Digital security event - 26th June

9am to 11am

77-79 Great Eastern Street

In the wake of Snowden-gate, are brands doing enough to reflect growing consumer concern over mobile privacy and security? This year’s Mobile World Congress saw the launch of a plethora of new products which claim to ensure consumer privacy. The introduction of the touch ID fingerprint sensor on Apple’s iPhone 5S has prompted a flurry of interest in biometrics on mobile devices, despite the technology being available for some time.

In addition, social networks, websites and apps are increasingly scrutinised in case they harvest data in a non-consumer friendly way. But can brands that make protection of personal data a central differentiator use this as a USP to win market share?

putitout and Diffusion is thrilled to host a morning on data security - including mobile privacy & security, data protection for social media, what brands do with your data and the issues between corporate responsibility and consumer action.

• Ed Hodges - Executive Vice President, EMEA at InAuth, Inc specialising in Mobile & Browser Authentication and Fraud Detection
• Simon Rockman - writer, The Register, and CEO of Fuss Free Phones, an MVNO for people who find mobile phones difficult to use
• Charles Cadbury - Managing Director, putitout
• Ivana Farthing – Head of Mobile, Diffusion

We will cover the following areas:
• Are marketers doing enough to reflect growing consumer concern over mobile privacy and security?
• Are consumers’ concerns influencing their mobile-buying decisions?
• What are businesses doing (and what should they be doing) to ensure that these concerns are addressed, particularly when developing mobile apps and websites?
• Where does the balance lie between corporate responsibility and consumer action, when it comes to issues around data privacy and security?
• What are the PR implications of the ‘Rise of Privacy’ on businesses? If you’re an organisation, how do you talk about data protection to your customers – without scare-mongering?
