Top of the Apps - June 2010

We present to you the PutITOut current Top 10 innovative/creative uses of mobile:
  1. Touchnote perfectly crosses the media boundary by sending your photos as physical postcards.
Originally created for Facebook photos, Touchnote is now available as Symbian (Nokia), iPhone and Android apps.

Take a photo, add a message, and granny receives a card in the post.

2.  Zenbound  a lovely application that has nailed intuitive UI.

Allows you to do such things as wrapping rope around trees.

Very pointless, very calming.

3. Angry Birds is addictive gameplay. Amazing, realistic physics engine that brings the user back time and time again.

Regular updates, including free levels, has earned it the top spot in the iTunes games charts for over 3 months now. Average rating 5 stars. Wow.

4. Samsung, 1 Goal – Samsung’s own operating system includes facial recognition.

To promote the good works of their 1goal concept, Samsung have released an app with an AR game as the “hook” to revisit the app.

Point the camera at your feet and kick a virtual ball. It works very well. I like it a lot.

5. Square iPad – Innovative use of the iPad interface allows it to be used as a POS system. Very clever.

6.Over here developed by our friend Ed Lea.

Finds where you are, opens your e-mail with a link to that exact spot so people can come and find you and join the party.

7. Sky+ iPhone app - Sky+ just got even better - allowing you to record anything on telly when you are away from home.

Simple, elegant use of the technology

8. Hipstermatic -  a better camera app than the iPhone camera app.

Good example of taking existing hardware,  giving it a twist and making it better

9. Worksnug - Find, rate and review places near to you for working away from the office.
Simple AR interface – coming soon on a blackberry near you

10. Box Car - The 1st app to bring in notifications from facebook and twitter to your iPhone.

Pushing notifications to the user – making your social media channels interact with you in real time.
