Top of the Apps - July 2014

After a brilliant night at the putitout party last night we're all looking forward to the weekend. Everybody had a great time and the smoothie bike was a particular highlight.

Here are our favourite apps at the moment:

Who: Charlie Cadbury

What: Fling

Why: This was recommended to me by my mate Will as a way to communicate to up to 50 strangers at once.  Send a fling out to the world, watch it land globally and then get replies.  By the flings I randomly get, it seems people at larger are a bit confused by this service.  Worth a go to poll your fellow humans.  I have gamified this in my head and try to get as many 'replies' as possible.  Best result yet is 4 from 1 single fling.  Beat me.

Who: Rebecca Bryant

What: Ultratext

Why: It's not going to change the world but it certainly makes your texts stand out from the crowd.

Who: Chris Hodgson

What: Harris & Hoole

Why: The latest mobile payment app to be realised for a coffee shop, this app demonstrates an excellent user experience using a slick design, simple interface and smooth payment processing.  And the coffee isn't bad either!

Who: Ed Davenport

What: Citymapper

Why: Very useful for the fastest routes around London (other major cities are available). It tells you how much each journey will cost, bus details, cycle locations and even a calorie counter! Perfect for getting out and about in the summer.

Who: Ed Rigg

What: Touchnote

Why: Ease of use means that in this digital age we can send an old fashioned personalised post card in the post at the click of a button - ideal.

Who: Katie houghton

What: ROY G BIV

Why: lets you hear what colour sounds like!! The app takes colour data from your phone camera and converts it into modulations for an 8-note synth + there is a barking dog sound bite, SPICE!

Who: Bethan Jones

What: Yplan

Why: It’s great for browsing through events, very useful.
