Presenting our regular Top of the Apps feature with, in no particular order, our favorite 10 apps from the past month.
Â
Words With Friends – Anyone who’s had any experience withÂ
Scrabble will recognise this classic. An intuitive interface makes correspondence wordplay easy. Connecting humans makes for very addictive gameplay. I’m “charliecad†if you’re up for a game…
Â
Â
Dragon Dictation – Brings voice recognition to the iPhone in a meaningful way. Its very accurate and you can copy the text to a SMS or mail. The interface could be slightly easier, but it’s a great service.
Â
Â
Teux Deux – AJ now swears by this service. A paid-for application that manages your tasks and synchronises with the online, free tool.
Â
Â
BBC News - At the end of July the BBC came to the party and launched their iPhone and iPad apps. As you’d expect from the BBC they have released a slick and aesthetically beautiful offering; and all the intelligent caching features you’d expect from an app displaying new, dynamic content on an ongoing basis.
Â
Â
Zumodrive - This is what we have standardised for our PutITout cloud storage solution. Their magic little app allows us to explore all the files on the cloud, and also streams music to your handset, allowing you to take your 100GB music collection wherever you go.
Â
Â
Are you fit? – OK this is a bit of a cheat as we built it for our friends up north at Francesco but it’s been making us laugh all summer long and its still FREE!
Â
Â
ESPN Score Centre – this is Chris’ favourite app - helps him keep track of all his teams on both sides of the pond, lovely quick access to info most important to the user (you).
Â
Â
London Cycle App - Its not because more than half of our UK office cycles to work that we like this app... It’s the ease of use and wonderful extra features like usage timer and real time view of the number of bikes available at each location.
Â
Â
iDaft 2 - this is a great fun app. Allows you to become Daft Punk. Simple implementation of a soundboard but we like Daft Punk so it appeals. Simples.
Â
Â
Momento - This neat little application keeps a diary for you. Â It pulls in your Facebook, Flickr or twitter feeds to start you off, but then allows you to add your own notes, feelings or photos on the go. Â Good idea, well executed.
