One of the many fantastic things about working in this industry is the range of projects we get to work on. Whether that is building digital platforms for Robbie Williams concerts or designing retro websites for The Breakfast Club, it is always fresh and exciting.

 

One particular project that we have just finished was the brainchild of Caz Roberts. Gluugle is a website and app that helps users to find restaurants with gluten free food. Users can then add places to eat and review their experiences.

 

The idea evolved from Caz’s blog The Gluten Free Foodie that started in 2009 and a massive hit in the Gluten free community.

 

“We found there was a serious need for practical communication between gluten allergy sufferers about places they'd found to eat, Gluugle was the perfect anwer” – That’s Caz, who also plans to take the project to Australia next where there she sees plenty of demand for the same service. “We will be doing competitons to promote the site and getting a sponsor on board soon so keep an eye on things, its all very exciting”

 

We thought that the idea of a practical, user-friendly solution to help those who suffer from allergies was excellent and were pretty excited to be on board.

 

As you will see the site (built using Code Igniter - PHP) consists of a lot of user generated content, namely recommendations and reviews of gluten free websites, which are submitted via the iOS app and/or the website. This is collated and displayed so that users can use geo-location to find their nearest gluten free eatery. There is also a multi search ability to look up restaurants and every user has a profile by registering via email address and password. The site has been promoted by Caz’s blog using her twitter following and is integrated on two fronts, Foursquare and social outlets Twitter and Facebook.
